Andrew McCutchen Hit As Many Home Runs In One Game As The Atlanta Braves Have Hit All Season
If you’re an Atlanta Braves fan, I am SO sorry. The first thing I thought of when I saw this stat was Babe Ruth. In 1920, Ruth hit more home runs (54) than any other team in the American League. He did it again seven years later when he set another home run record with 60 bombs, although he wouldn’t have out-homered the Yankees had he been on any other team. That year, the Yankees hit 158 homers, and the next team in line hit 56. This, of course, was how the 1927 Yankees earned the nickname of Murderers’ Row.
Hitting more home runs than every team in the entire league is why Babe Ruth is BABE RUTH, so there’s really no comparison to draw there. But Andrew McCutchen hit three home runs on Tuesday night in Colorado, which is the exact same amount of home runs that the Atlanta Braves have hit through their first 20 games of the season. As of right now, there are SIXTY players in the MLB who have more home runs than the entire Atlanta Braves team. That is just, wow. You reading this right now only have three fewer home runs this year than the entire Atlanta Braves major league roster. Between Jered Weaver throwing 80 MPH fastballs and the Atlanta Braves’ power numbers, I am legitimately convincing myself that I could be a major league baseball player.
