Will Snapchat Adding A Crying Jordan Filter Kill The Crying Jordan Meme?
Before today, I was in the camp that the Crying Jordan meme would outlive humanity. I mean at first I thought once Twitter died, the Crying Jordan would die along with it. Then I realized that people would just move along to the next social media platform and litter it with pictures of a crying MJ Twitter bird. Even if Michael Jordan died today, the Crying Jordan face would be like Obi Wan Kenobi after Vader killed him and become more powerful than we can possibly imagine. And like Big Cat said on Pardon My Take, anyone that says the Crying Jordan meme should die instantly gets Crying Jordan’d.
But today’s Snapchat update allowing people to add a custom picture filter to their photo, including Crying Jordan, could officially be the end of it. Because white people remain undefeated in ruining funny stuff. They’ve (I guess technically we’ve) killed countless dance moves and sayings by just being so fucking lame. I actively hated Opening Day this year because everyone and their goddamn mother used the Opening Day hat and eye black filter. If it’s on Snapchat, it means that some kid will show their parents, who will try to be cool and take a pic then post it on Facebook despite having NO IDEA what it means. And once it’s on Facebook and the Hillary Clintons of the world, it’s only a few steps away from the morgue.
However, I want to believe that the Crying Jordan won’t die. It’s gone this long and become almost too important to internet and American culture. I don’t want the Twitter and blog eggs to finally write their “RIP Jordan Meme” posts. So lets put it up for vote using Barstool’s star rating system, since it is one of the only things on the internet older than the Crying Jordan face.
Vote 1 star if white people on Snapchat can kill the Crying Jordan face, Vote 10 stars if the Crying Jordan face can’t stop won’t stop and will always rise from the dead like a White Walker.
