Vin Scully Ethered Ryan Howard During A Pitching Change In A LA/SF Game...Wait, What?

Huh? Easy, Vin. The man has a family. I’m 100% team Scully and obviously I get the Howard hate (even if he is one of the greatest Phillies to ever wear the uniform). But Vin, man, there’s a time and a place to go out of your way and completely eviscerate another human being. And it’s not completely random during a pitching change of a Dodgers vs. Giants game. At least give the man a head’s up or a warning shot about the incoming so he’s got a chance to duck and cover. That was a complete ambush. The sound of pure disgust in Scully’s voice saying “1,738” says it all. Vin Scully’s racist old school. And all those Golden Sombrero’s Ryan Howard has acquired over the years (as well as Howard going apetits during the 08′ and 09′ NLCS’s) doesn’t sit well in Vin’s grits.

Pres blogged about this over the weekend, but I agree with him that this story may be the greatest story ever told. Just keeps getting better and better.
