Travis Pastrana Woke Up And Decided To Land a Trick He's Been Working On For 3 Years That My Brain Can't Really Comprehend
After my ninth view, I think I might understand 12% of what I just saw. I’ll let Travis explain it:
Red Bull - Travis Pastrana is a man of many talents; in 2006 he put his name on the map with the world’s first double backflip on a motorbike at the X Games. Since then, the motocross and rally car hero has added to his plethora of records. However, his most recent is undoubtedly one of his most impressive yet; Travis has only gone and landed the first ever double cork 1080 on a mountain bike.
“Epic start to the day! Landed a double quark 1080 (Aussie-roll, double back flip 360 – whatever you want to call it) on a bet with Dusty Wygle. We finished one of the all-time craziest shows in the history of Nitro Circus Live last night in front of a sold out show in London’s O2 arena.
“Woke up this morning tired, sick and beat up. And decided today was going to be the day to land a trick I’ve been working on for 3 years. Dusty had been working on it equally as long and agreed to give it a go too. But not wanting to leave anyone out, we woke up half the Nitro crew and got to the venue early today to have a huck-it session. Putting on a show in front of tens of thousands of people is an amazing feeling. But sessions like this morning’s practice with just your friends are what we live for.”
So he did a corkscrew, 360 double backflip and lived to tell about it. Remember how cool it was when you would bunny hop and get your handlebars to go all the way around before you landed? Kinda the same thing I guess. Except Travis is the only person to ever land that trick..and even better, he did it to win a bet vs. his friend who has also been working on the same trick for 3 years. Poor Dusty. But I guess that’s what happens when you’re friends with Travis Pastrana. You’re really just fighting for second place at all times. Which is hilarious because way back when we did that tricycle race with Travis, people thought we purposely let him win. I think he was in 3rd or 4th coming around the homestretch and just by a miracle of whatever God Travis believes in (which is clearly the real one, considering he’s still alive with working arms and legs) he won the race. I was in first place by a large margin, hit 7 different banana peels, and the rest is history. That’s just the Travis Pastrana life.
The video isn’t on our YouTube yet, but the fact that guy hung out with us and was cool about it pretty much sums it all up.
