Eagles Call Pats Disrespectful For Trying Drop Kick Onside Kick
CSN Philly – The Patriots were up 14-0 on Sunday after a Danny Amendola touchdown midway through the second frame when head coach Bill Belichick tried something a little out of the ordinary. Kicker Stephen Gostkowski pitched the kickoff to special-teamer Nate Ebner, who attempted a drop kick that the Eagles’ Seyi Ajirotutu jumped on at Philly’s 41-yard line. The Eagles went on to score 35 unanswered points, and wide receiver Jordan Matthews provided a little context for that after the game. “I don’t think anything surprises you with the Patriots,” Matthews said, per CSN Philly. “I mean, they ran like a triple reverse pass to Tom Brady, so nothing can really surprise you. But in a sense it is kind of like, man, you know, that’s disrespectful. They’re trying to go ahead and get the ball back that quickly so they can put points on us. We’ve got men in our locker room, too. “ … When a team’s trying to do that and trying to impose their will on us the way they were trying to, it was important for us to go out and score that next drive. And we were able to go do that.”
Haha. Fucking Philly. Listen I already said I don’t care about the Eagles. We lost to ourselves yesterday. It sucks, but Philly acting like they had anything to do with that victory is laugh out loud funny. It doesn’t matter who we played yesterday. We would have lost. Could have been Swampscott High School. It was just one of those games that happens to this team once or twice a decade. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and we didn’t have enough guys to overcome it. That’s fine. I can live with it. Feb 7, 2016. That’s all that matters.
BUT can the Eagles shut up with this it was “disrespectful” to do the drop kick garbage. How the fuck is trying to win a football game disrespectful? And what have the Eagles done prior to that point yesterday to even earn an ounce of respect? Again congrats to Philly. We beat ourselves and they were the recipient of a gift victory fair and square. But we were disrespectful for running a trick play? That’s LOSER talk. Almost as bad as when on the bus ride over to the game all the Philly fans talking about how their best chance of a title is the Sixers. No joke that’s what they were saying. The same Sixers team that tied for the worst start in the history of the NBA. So let these downtrodden folk have their day in the sun. If we had to give somebody free cake I’m glad it was them and not a team that is worth a damn.
PS – I say the same thing anytime somebody questions Belichick’s playcalling or decisions. It INFURIATES me. Listen Belichick has neither the time nor the inclination to explain himself to fans who rise and sleep under the blanket of domination that he provides, and then questions the manner in which he provide it. I would rather you just said thank you and went on your way, Seriously how dare anybody question anything the Patriots do? They are beyond reproach. Just sit back, be quiet and watch the Lombardi Trophies roll in. The Patriots never stop playing. They never stop thinking. They never stop strategizing. They never stop trying to find an edge. Some people call it arrogance. I call it brains. I call it playing to win not to lose. Does it always work? No, but overall the results speak for themselves. You can’t knitpick and say oh I wish the Pats did this or that differently. NO. There is a reason the Pats are who they are and it is exactly because of the way Belichick thinks and operates. If you can’t appreciate that go find another dynasty to root for.
