After coming in at number 3 in the USA Today coach’s poll, Maryland grabs the same spot in the AP Top 25 Poll. They have the 2nd most first place votes, a strong indicator of just how good many think they are going to be. I’ve joked (but is it a joke?) before about how this is the lowest they’ll be ranked all year. They get their first test in only 2 weeks when they go up against Georgetown on the 17th on ESPN2. And then only 2 weeks after that they venture on down to Chapel Hill for perhaps their biggest game until March Madness, facing the Tar Heels in what should be a top 5 vs top 5 matchup. Though it’s a month away and who knows what can happen, it’s possible the winner of that game becomes the unanimous number 1 team in college basketball. This season is going to be a hell of a fun ride. Buckle up, it’s almost Dirty Terps time.
