While You Were Watching The NFL Last Night, Southern University's Willie Quinn Put On A God Damn Show
ITTA BENA, Miss. — Willie Quinn outscored the competition by himself.
Southern’s senior receiver racked up 276 total yards and three touchdowns — none as a receiver — to spark the Jaguars’ 50-13 beatdown of Mississippi Valley State on Thursday night at Rice-Totten Stadium.
Quinn found the end zone on a punt return, threw for another touchdown on a trick play and brought a kickoff back for a score during the teams’ Southwestern Athletic Conference opener. He averaged 46 yards per touch.
“Willie is one of the most humble guys on our team,” said Southern coach Dawson Odums. “God gives us all talents, and he uses his to his fullest.”
…
Ever heard of Willie Quinn? Probably time to file that name in the memory bank. While you were watching the NFL season kickoff and Gronk waltz into the end zone with his third touchdown while Mike Tomlin looked for a headset that worked well enough to tell his defense “cover that guy”, Southern U. and Mississippi Valley State were squaring off in a battle of the titans in Bena, Mississippi. Ok I can’t really blame you for not tuning into that Thursday night SWAC matchup, I didn’t either, but this kid Willie Quinn put on a god damn show.
Unreal Sportscenter Top Play 39 yard punt return –
90 yard kick return TD with just flat out coast to coast burning speed –
Oh, and a casual flick of the wrist with a 44 yard laser down the field –
Don’t care if this game was between two teams you’ve never heard of on a field that looked more low quality than your local high school’s. Talent is talent.
Willie Quinn for Heisman.
