Mark Pope And Every Player Associated With Kentucky Basketball Aren't Just Failures This Season. They Are Complete Embarrassments To The Program
Here I was last night sitting night, battling the annual post-Thanksgiving cold, cautiously excited to watch my favorite team in the entire world. The team that got me this job in the sport that got me this job. What could go wrong? A home game against North Carolina in a must win spot, this is the game they tend to win. What could go wrong?
ELEVEN FUCKING MINUTES WITHOUT MAKING A GODDAMN SHOT IS WHAT HAPPENED. I don't even know that happens. It's nearly impossible for any team, at any level, to go 11 minutes without making a shot. And that right there is why this team, Mark Pope and everyone associated with it aren't just failures. They are complete embarrassments to the program this season. 0-3, two ass kickings and a choke job at home.
I'm fully aware that there are injuries and this team was built on Jaland Lowe being the point guard. That doesn't matter. Injuries happen all the time, you need to be able to adapt or adjust on the fly. That's been a failure. It starts with the roster construction. You can't punt on shooters when your whole system is predicated on having shooters. Then you can't have a lack of athletes to win an ugly game. That's where they are right now. That's where you need to have a GM that can help dictate the team.
This was supposed to be a good team. This was supposed to be a team that looked the part. I don't care how much money guys are getting in NIL, that's all irrelevant to me because it means nothing. They need to remember how to play basketball at a goddamn JV level. One made three last night and a lot of them weren't even close. A bunch of dogshit shots and dog water offense. Then you have a chance to still steal the game and you get blown by on a simple ball screen
I'm not sitting here screaming fire Mark Pope. That would be stupid to do when we're 8 games into year 2. I'm sitting here screaming that his coaching and the players are a complete embarrassment this season. It's just pathetic to roll over and die like this and not have a coach demanding more publicly. I rather see guys benched and play guys 35+ minutes. It's pretty clear the rotation needs to be cut, start doing something different and stop throwing up fucking bricks at home. At least we got Gonzaga on Friday. That will go well.
Embarrassing. Pathetic.
