Kansas Basketball Fans Chanted "Fuck Dan Hurley" And The Best Coach In The Country Had The Perfect Response

"The chants? Yeah, I wasn't expecting that. Everyone was so nice to me the last time I was here. Listen, I don't really have an opinion...It's sports. We're all fucking gladiators."

It's sports. We're all fucking gladiators.

I have an opinion, Coach Hurley - hell of a win at Kansas. And a hell of a quote.

UConn went into Allen Field House and beat Kansas Tuesday Night 61-56. In the first half, the Kansas fans let the best college basketball coach in the country know what they thought about him.

I think because of social media, people pretend to be outraged by this stuff. Zero problem with this. They're college kids. If they saw Hurley at a local pizza place after the game, they'd ask for a selfie. To quote a famous Barstool personality, "They're just kids." Didn't seem to bother Hurley.

And it didn't bother his team, which seems to feed off the coach's personality. They clawed back to outscore Kansas 32-23 in the second half. This was on the road, in one of, if not THE loudest, buildings in all of college basketball. Hurley made one of the best coaching moves of the game by going small in the second half, leading to a 7-0 run.

It's pretty impressive how much emotion Hurley stirs up among opposing fanbases. He would have made a hell of a Gladiator. Half the crowd loves him, and half would hate him. Perfect.

Giphy Images.

Hurley was not tweeting about the crowd after the game; he was tweeting about Ted Lasso. Gotta admit, I bailed on Ted Lasso pretty early, maybe two or three episodes in? Seemed pretty corny. Is it really that good?

I think this post was about Jason Sudeikis being a Kansas native and a Jayhawks fan? I guess his high school basketball coach, Donnie Campbell, was the real-life inspiration for the Lasso character. Again, I bailed on the show.

I will not be bailing on this UConn team. Beat BYU. Beat Kansas. Still have not played a game with their whole roster 100% healthy. I mean, did you see what freshman Barylon Mullins did in his second career college game?

It's so great to be a fan of a team whose head coach lives rent-free in the heads of every opponent. Opposing fans should be more worried about the UConn players on the court and less concerned about the guy leading them on the sidelines.

Going to be a fun team to watch battle in the arena, led by a head coach who would have made the perfect Gladiator.
