The Philadelphia Eagles Shit All Over Themselves, Leave Dallas With The Most Pathetic Loss Of The Year
Stacy Revere. Getty Images. No matter how this one ended, it was either going to be the most disgusting win of the season or the most disgusting loss of the season. No matter how this one ended, this Philadelphia Eagles team was going to leave Dallas today as one of the biggest jokes in football. But holy shit would a win at least be somewhat easier to deal with right now.
I mean what an absolute piece of shit performance after that 1st quarter. They score 3 times on their first 3 drives of the game. The first 4 defensive possessions ended with a turnover on downs, a punt, a fumble recovery, and an interception. It looked like this was going to be a good ol' fashion beat down. It looked like it was about to be the ass kicking of all ass kickings. Like the Eagles were going to have their way with the Cowboys all damn day. Make them tap out and say uncle.
But these Philadelphia Eagles aren't killers. They don't have that in them. They aren't big dogs. They are scared little bitches. They don't have the instinct to keep their foot on their opponent's throat until they watch that final breathe of life leave their body. The moment this team gets out to a lead, the main objective becomes "not losing". They don't want to win a game. They don't want to make their opponents submit. They play to not lose. They play scared. They play conservative. All the explosiveness of the offense completely evaporates. The defense starts to give up massive chunks of yardage at a time.
It starts at the top. This is Nick Sirianni's MO. He's terrified of things going wrong. Instead of thinking about how they can put a team away for good, he's too worried about what will happen if they turn the ball over and give their opponent some life. But that's exactly what he ends up doing anyway. If you don't put a team away in the NFL when you have a chance, then the door is always going to be open for them to comeback. Doesn't matter if you're up 21-0 or not. You need to make sure that team is buried, and you simply cannot take your foot off the gas ever.
You let them hang around, they start to make a few plays, they start to make a few stops, all of a sudden the momentum completely shifts and the game gets flipped on its head while there is piss and shit dripping all down the Eagles' legs. And I'm sure Jalen Hurts is going to give some dipshit quote in his post-game press conference about how momentum isn't real. But it's so apparent that this team refuses to ever take advantage of any momentum that is on their side. They go into auto-pilot, everything goes off the rails, and they have to pray the clock runs out before they completely blow the game away. Not today.
Penalties. Turnovers. Miscommunications. Loser coaching. Loser football. What a despicable night for the Philadelphia Eagles. They deserved every bit of that loss. That was a loss that was weeks in the making, and it was only a matter of time before their refusal to play a full game would bite them in the dick like that.
