Brian Kelly's Son Kenzel Showed Up To LSU Senior Night Wearing A "BK" Undershirt And Yelled "Free My Boy BK" To The Cameras
Listen, there wasn't much going on yesterday in the CFB world. Lost in the shuffle of that boring slate last night was whatever the fuck Brian Kelly's son Kenzel was doing here. For some obvious context, it was LSU senior night and Brian Kelly has a son named Kenzel on the team who clearly isn't happy that his dad was fired.
And not only was that an unbelievable 30 seconds of footage from him, but the change from "yeah this one's over against an out of conference cupcake" to "holy shit it's not over" was an all-timer. Sure that was before the game, but the camera crew thought they were in the clear there just showing it before they got into victory formation.
And no, Brian Kelly didn't die or get arrested, he just got fired with a buyout worth a zillion dollars that the school doesn't want to pay. I gotta admit, solid point by the commentary team there because I'm not sure I know anyone who refers to their dad as "their boy (insert initials here)". Free my boy sounds like BK just got locked up for some crime, but Kenzel offered some clarity because he said his dad wanted to be there for him during senior night and LSU's new leadership did not see it the same way:
This is the definition of a rock and a hard place because what do you exactly do if you're LSU? Sure, the son is only on the team because his dad was your coach you were paying millions of dollars to, but he did have a spot on that team and it is senior night. But do you let Brian Kelly show up amidst a lawsuit trying to get the full money he says he's owed for the job? I don't think so. Gotta love college football where stories like this can flourish.
