It's a Triumph of the Human Spirit in Thailand as Miss Mexico, Who Was Called 'Dumbhead' by the Pageant Organizer, is Crowned Miss Universe

Needless to say, Big Deals don't come much bigger than becoming Miss Universe. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the cosmos is 93 billion light years wide and contains 2 trillion galaxies with approximately 100 billion stars each. So to officially be named the hottest female among the population of all those homeworlds is an impressive feat, indeed. In all cases.

But sometimes, putting on the crown and the sash means even more. As in the case of former Miss Mexico, now Miss All of Existence Fatima Bosch. She had to endure more than most on her journey:

NY Post -  Miss Universe contestants barged out of a pre-pageant event as they protested an executive who called one contender a “dummy” and ordered her removal during a heated exchange caught on camera.

Nawat Itsaragrisil, an executive director of Miss Universe Organization, berated Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, in front of her fellow beauty queens after she didn’t participate in a social media shoot, claiming she had “no respect.”

Itsaragrisil, a Thai businessman tasked with overseeing the pageant in his home country, confronted the elegantly dressed participants during the annual sash ceremony on Tuesday, questioning why some didn’t take part in a sponsorship shoot. …

Itsaragrisil then directly accused Bosch, asking her to stand and explain her absence.“Mexico, where are you? He asked, prompting Bosch to out herself. “I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand, is that true?” …

The tense exchange lasted for four minutes before Itsaragrisil called Bosch a “dummy,” sparking fury from the women.

“I still keep talking to everybody, why you still stand up to talk to me,” Itsaragrisil questioned Bosch.“Because I have a voice,” she said. “You are not respecting me as a woman.”

Itsaragrisil, unable to quiet his opposer, called for security to take her out of the room as the rest of the contestants bemoaned the decision.

Here's the video:

… talking! I’m still talking!”

Moments later, he called for security and the room fell silent. Then she walked out.

And one by one, the other women followed.

A beauty pageant just became a rebellion.

And here's the real dumbhead, Itsaragrisil, acting like a pathetic little bitch after these intrepid young ladies stood up to him:

And in the end, courage, bravery, and defiance in the face of oppression won the day.

The woman now representing the ideal of feminine beauty throughout the vastness of God's creation is more than just pretty, talented, and able to answer questions about whatever. She's a heroic archetype. Like a character in one of the great stories that have stood the test of time, she's a symbol of triumphing over adversity. She's Odysseus spending years as a beaten down beggar on his own island, slaughtering those who abused him. She's the Count of Monte Cristo, wrongly convicted and sent to a hellish prison for over a decade before escaping and coming back like an avenging angel. Frodo Baggins, almost destroyed by the corrupting power of the One Ring, until his act of mercy toward Gollum cast it into the fire and saved all of Middle Earth.

Of course, like any of these iconic heroes, Miss Bosch has her share of detractors. People casting aspersions on her victory as a Make Good by the pageant committee:

We'll all have to watch the pageant and judge for ourselves. But all I know right now is that she was bullied by Nawat Itsaragrisil, refused to take the abuse, stood her ground, led a rebellion and stands triumphant, from the tip of her crown to the point of her stilettos. And he's out about 6 million dollars, US. That in and of itself is true justice.
