The Chair Company Being Picked Up For Season 2 By HBO Is The Best/Worst News Ever

First and foremost I wanna say I am fucking pumped that The Chair Company is coming back for Season 2. I've loved everything I've watched from the sick and twisted brain of Tim Robinson from I Think You Should Leave to Friendship to The Chair Company (Detroiters is on my To Do List once football season ends). There is another timeline in a different where Tim stays on SNL longterm and makes some of the greatest weird ass late night sketches that play near the end of the show where you don't know if you are laughing because it's hilarious or because you are overtired (those types of sketches have always been my favorite for as long as I remember because that's very much my brand of comedy). Instead, we've gotten those other projects, which are all among my favorite things to watch in the 2020s.

Now I know what you are saying. "Clem, you ignorant slut. How could The Chair Company getting picked up possibly be bad news?". Well, I have two very clear reasons:

1. I wanted to have a cheeky clickbaity word in my headline to put some pageviews in Portnoy's pocket and glitter in my bucket in true #Clickburglar fashion.

2. I need to know how the fuck The Chair Company ends ASAP. To be honest, every week I get more and more convinced Tim is just trolling us by filling our heads with more outlandish moments, characters, and scenarios to muck up the waters. I guess you can make a case that TV shows are about the journey, not the destination. Especially when a legitimate madman is in charge of it.

But when Tim throws 10 more potential red herrings at my brain, I instinctively have to try to figure out how they are all tied to why that chair broke during that fateful meeting, even though I know it's that sus bitch Doug's fault.

Sidenote, any fan of humor in The Chair Company should watch the documentary about Jim Downey that just came out on Peacock right after they finish then share this blog.

Along with all the guys Pete referenced in his tweet, Jim also played this legendary character from Billy Madison

Where was I? Oh yeah, The Chair Company! I really don't know what else to say about it other than it's an A+++++ show that keeps you on your toes more than any show I can remember because every other scene is patently ridiculous. I mean the fact a chase scene was paused by another scene where Ron was forced by a random guy to make out with his mistress over like a 3-5 minute span was ludicrous yet it somehow wasn't even in the Top 3 craziest things I've seen this season or maybe in that episode.

A show that absurd usually wouldn't fit in with the prestigious Sunday night HBO lineup. But it's so good, it truly belongs in the mix with all the other great shows that were in that time slot. Not that I ever watch it Sunday night since my old ass is shot after a full day doing absolutely nothing other than watching football. But waking up on Monday morning then remembering I have an incredible show to help kick my week off is an incredible feeling every time I get it and I'm thrilled that this feeling will continue for at least one more season (even though I wanna know how all this crazy shit ties together).

This is the part where I would include some of my favorite parts of the show, but the algorithm doesn't feed me much Chair Company stuff yet. Which is why I just searched #TheChairCompany and kept clicking on the hashtag so my For You tab gets flooded with them now.

Obligatory shout out to my favorite I Think You Should Leave sketch:

P.S. With all due respect to Ron, having a new mall in Canton without the slightest reference to football is damn near a fireable offense.
