Going Through A Hypothetical Scenario Where Ohio State Plays An SEC Schedule

So everyone’s always like Ohio State has an easy schedule, the Big Ten is a joke, Ohio State would be middle of the pack in the SEC. Well first of all, Ohio State has won their last 3 games against SEC teams and at the times of those games, their opponents were ranked 7th, 3rd, and 1st in the country. And the Big Ten has the last 2 National Champions. And the Big Ten has the top 2 teams in the country this year. But fine, we’ll play the SEC fans favorite game: hypotheticals.

So what I decided to do was spin a completely random wheel of SEC teams, and whichever one it landed on, I'd insert Ohio State into that team's spot and go through a hypothetical schedule. And would you know it, that wheel landed directly on Texas A&M.....

(see video at the top for true wheel spin)

But okay, perfect, the #3 team in the country. The best team in the SEC. Let’s go through their schedule and see how Ohio State would fare against the big bad gauntlet of the SEC

Week 1 - Home against UTSA. Ummm, win? Ohio State played the preseason number 1 team in the country in week 1 so I’m assuming we’d have beaten a 500 team from the American

Week 2 - Home versus Utah State. I gotta go with a win there too. Another 500 team in the…hold on let me check what conference Utah State plays in, the Mountain West

Week 3 - at Notre Dame. Now I’ll be the first to admit that’s a tough game. I know that because Ohio State went to Notre Dame a few years ago and beat the Irish in South Bend. A year before that we beat them in Columbus. A few years before that we beat them in the Fiesta Bowl. And last year we beat them in the National Championship. So if this game were anything like the last 7 times we’ve played Notre Dame, I gotta go Buckeyes here

Week 4 - finally in SEC play we have home vs Auburn. Now was this before or after Auburn fired their coach for being so bad? Before, okay. Win

Week 5 - Home vs Mississippi State. Let’s see they’re under 500. They lost to Texas at home. We beat Texas. I think I gotta go Buckeyes over Mississippi State here

Week 6 - Home vs Florida. Now was this before or after Florida fired their coach for being so bad? Before, okay. Win

Week 7 - at Arkansas. I know the SEC is great and all but I think I gotta go with the Buckeyes here over a team that is 2 and 8 with their only wins being against Alabama A&M and Arkansas State

Week 8 - at LSU. Now was this before or after LSU fired their coach for being so bad? Before, okay. Win

Week 9 - at Missouri. Now I will give Mizzo credit here, the last time we played them, they beat us (without us playing our starters). So my advice here to Coach Day is play your starters. Because if you do that, Missouri lost to Texas. We beat Texas. Missouri lost to Bama. Bama lost to Florida State. Florida State stinks. Play your starters = Beat Mizzo easily

Week 10 - Home against South Carolina. Again I know the SEC is the best conference in the world but South Carolina is 3 and 7 with one conference win over Kentucky. If Ohio State played within 30 of this team I’d be shocked

Week 11 - Home against Samford. I honestly didn’t know Samford is in the SEC. ESPN.com says that Samford is 1 and 8 with their only win being over the Virginia Military Institute by 2 points. I gotta write to the editor though because this has to be a typo. Why would an SEC team be playing not just a nonconference game but one of the worst and smallest teams in the country in their 11th game of the season?

And then Week 12. Texas. Well we already beat Texas so I’d have to go with Ohio State in this one based on the fact that we already did it.

Umm so that’s 12 and 0 for the Ohio State Buckeyes against a hypothetical SEC schedule and I hate to try and ruffle any feathers here, but was that schedule not substantially easier than playing in the Big 10?
