John Cena's Final Monday Night RAW Was, Simply Put, Awesome
Last night at Madison Square Garden, John Cena said goodbye to both the World's Most Famous Arena and his time on Monday Night RAW, and while it was bittersweet - it was also just flat out awesome. They opened the show with his music hitting, which the crowd finally sang along to with the right lyrics (not "JOHN CENA SUUUUCKS")....
Cena soaked in the cheers and "THANK YOU CENA" chants for a few minutes, then began to cut a promo about how much this all meant to him before being interrupted by Dominik Mysterio....
This led to the Judgement Day having Dom's back and outnumbering Cena, which of course led to Cena getting backup as well - being Sheamus and Rey Mysterio….
Initially, I thought the house show-esque six-man-tag was a bit of a weird call over a one-on-one for such a historic moment, but by the end of the match it felt like the right call. It was a wholesome "good guys win" story where Cena got the hot tag, hit all of his big spots, and clearly had a ton of fun with his fellow veterans….
RAW was great as a whole after that, as well. We got the return of Dolph Ziggler, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar joining the Men's War Games match in an awesome main event brawl segment, AJ Lee costing Becky Lynch the Women's Intercontinental Championship, and a great match between Gunther and Je'Von Evans. They treated it like a proper special occasion show and it delivered.
Rumors today suggest that John Cena will headline the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame class, which makes me think maybe he might've been offered that honor backstage last night….
Obviously Vince McMahon would've inducted him had he not been a massive pervert, but who does it now?
Triple H is likely inducting Stephanie McMahon, so we can probably rule him out. Randy Orton? Maybe CM Punk? Maybe a veteran like Kurt Angle or The Undertaker? We'll see! Shoutout to Netflix for having us!
