OHL Player Does The One Thing In Hockey You're Really Not Supposed To Do, And Decides To Bash His Opponent's Face In With His Stick

February 21, 2000. Luke Dragusica wasn't even a twinkle in his daddy's eyes yet at that point. But on that night, Marty McSorley followed Donald Brashear down the ice, clubbed him in the head with his stick, and it resulted in him never playing in the National Hockey League ever again. He was suspended for the rest of the season, and he was convicted in court for assault with a weapon. It forced him to serve an 18-mot probation sentence.

That was in the year 2000. Canada was still basically the wild west at that point. Nowadays, they're trying to take fighting out of hockey and they'll throw you in jail for making mean jokes.

So for Luke Dragusica to pull this shit in the OHL the other night? I don't know, man. I see a lot of people talking about how he needs to serve a season long suspension, but it feels like even that's pretty light.

There are 2 things you're taught as soon as you start playing hockey. 1) play until you hear the whistle, and 2) don't be a fucking dickhead who slashes people in the face with their stick. You might not have the best stick skills in the world, you might not be the fastest skater ever, but you can have a lengthy career of playing hockey at whatever level suits you as long as you follow those 2 rules. The fact that Luke Dragusica couldn't do that tells me that he really doesn't deserve to be playing hockey anymore. Or at least not with the general population. Perhaps there is a good ball hockey team he can join in jail.
