Jaelan Phillips Doubles Down On Saying Getting Traded To Philly Is The Best Thing To Ever Happen To Him, And He Might Be The Best Thing To Happen To Philly

When Jaelan Phillips was granted his freedom out of that shit hole down in Florida they call "Miami" before the trade deadline, he called it the greatest thing that ever happened to him. Getting a chance to not only live in the beautiful city of Philadelphia, but to play for this city's beloved Eagles. It was a dream come true for a guy who just wanted the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

The trade was still fresh. It still had that new car smell to it. Everything is great when it's new, so maybe he was just overexaggerating a bit. I mean it couldn't possibly be the BEST thing that's ever happened in his whole life, right?

Wrong.

A couple weeks later and he's ready to double down on it. A couple weeks later and Jaelan Phillips looks like he should be the front runner right now for Defensive Player of the Year.

This man is the definition of a problem. He's a menace every single time the opposing offense is on the field. Getting traded to Philly may have been the best thing to ever happen in his life, and maybe it's the best thing that has ever happened to Philly. Because he's come in here and turned this defense into one of the best in the league.

The offense has been pedestrian. The defense had some holes in it earlier in the year. The Eagles were winning games, but they didn't have any specific part of their game that truly felt like a team who can win back-to-back Super Bowls. But that's now 2 weeks in a row where the Eagles defense has held one of the better teams in the NFC to under 10 points. 2 teams that have hopes and aspirations of winning a Super Bowl, and the Eagles defense has held them to a combined 16 points. That's the Jaelan Phillips effect.

The Eagles have the 1-seed right now with only a couple of real tests on the schedule left to finish out the regular season. The defense is giving the offense every opportunity to take their time to figure out what it is they want to do here. A game in Dallas next week would be the perfect time for them to really lock that in.
