GTA VI Has Been Delayed. Again.

Some added life for the "we got XYZ before GTA VI" format, eh?

Lets set up the timeline for GTA 6:

2013 - GTA 5 is released. Smash hit. As of right now, it is the #2 best selling video game of all time

2014 - Rockstar begins development of GTA 6

2015 - GTA 5 is re-released for PS4

2018 - Development begins following the release of RDR2 (also a smash hit)

2020 - Production officially begins

2022 - GTA 5 is re-released again for PS5

2023 - Teaser released

2025 - Trailer released

2025 - Original release window passes. Delayed to May 2026

2025 - Rockstar fires around 40 employees for "leaking information"

2025 - Release is delayed again to November 2026

Compare that to the release timeline for the rest of the GTA games:

1997 - GTA I

1999 - GTA II

2001 - GTA III

2002 - GTA: Vice City

2004: GTA: San Andreas

2008 - GTA IV

2013 - GTA V

16 years, 7 original games. Since then, 12 years, no game. I'm a little bit torn on these delays. On the one hand, I certainly don't want them to release an overhyped, unfinished game and end up Cyberpunking themselves. On the other hand, this is an insane amount of time to wait for a video game sequel. It also puts a lot more pressure on them to be sure this game is absolutely perfect. ZERO fuckups. Not like ROckstar has a lot of misses or anything, but the pressure is ON now.

P.S. This is the first GTA game since the original that will not be written by Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games. Worth monitoring.
