Joel Embiid Is Literally The Healthiest Human On The Planet, Cleared To Make His Preseason Debut

People were acting like we might never get a chance to see Joel Embiid play basketball ever again. People were acting like this man was dead. That his body had fallen apart so badly that it would be months before we'd see him in anything besides street clothes. That the Sixers signed a man to a 3-year, $188 million contract extension who won't even be able to walk by the time the contract extension kicks in.

Well guess what, losers? You can all sit on a fist, because Joel Embiid is back.

Sure, it's just preseason. This could very easily end up being a Weekend At Bernies type of situation. You'll have Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe out there carrying around Joel Embiid like his limbs aren't as cooked as that dude who makes the most tender turkey legs on the planet. You know the guy I'm talking about.

But the fact of the matter is that it's not even Halloween yet, and we're already going to watch Joel Embiid play at least a few minutes of basketball. Something that nobody thought was going to be the case over the summer when the report came out that Joel Embiid was going to go this entire season without being on a timetable to return. That he'll play whenever his body feels healthy enough to play, and that he'll sit whenever his body tells him it is time to rest. That seemed like it was setting everything up for Embiid to play a few games around Christmas, and then shut it down again. But here we are on October 17th, and he's at least healthy enough to be available tonight.

I don't know, man. Maybe it's the fact that the Phillies let us down so hard yet again, the Eagles season is spiraling out of control, and the Flyers are still terrible. Maybe it's the fact that the Sixers are bringing Hip-Hop back this season, at least for a few games.

All I'm saying is the whole world is down on the Sixers right now, which makes it the perfect time for them to actually do something special. I'm not saying I'm bought back in yet, but I'll at least keep an open mind for now.
