Cris Collinsworth Spilled The Beans Of How NBC Is Planning To Use Michael Jordan In Their NBA Coverage And It Sounds Absolutely Perfect

With us being just days away from the start of the NBA season, aside from the games returning and all the drama that comes with it, it's also going to be our first look at how Amazon Prime and NBC handle their NBA coverage. Everything we've seen so far leading up to the season tells us that it's going to be great, and at the very least a refreshing change from the stranglehold that ESPN had on NBA coverage for the last handful of years. We're already seeing what having more competition in the market is doing, as it has now forced ESPN to produce actual basketball content in their NBA coverage. Imagine that!

With NBC's coverage, we've heard about the lineup of analysts which all seem like great options for the most part. It's bringing us the return of Round Ball Rock, which I think all basketball fans would agree makes things 1000000x better, given that we all love nostalgia, and there was nothing like hearing that song during the 90s.

But one thing we didn't really have an idea about was how things were going to work with Michael Jordan. When NBC announced he was joining the coverage I think we were all excited given ya know, it's Michael fucking Jordan, but I do think it all depends on how he's used. Ever since the announcement I don't think there's been a peep about this (unless I somehow missed it), until today.

Maybe I'm being a little naive in how much I'm buying into what Collinsworth is saying, but if this is true? HELL YES. Every single thing Collinsworth described in that clip is exactly how I want MJ to be used for NBC's coverage.

I don't need MJ to tell me who he thinks is the best player in the league or any of that shit. I want to know how he views things. How he looks at the game through the eyes of the GOAT. Give me all the details of what all of us as fans either don't know, or aren't even aware of. To me, that's the perfect use of MJ's brain. Have him explain different situations, have him do breakdowns of how he would attack certain defenses, have him explain the game how he would see if if he were playing. Give me all that stuff and none of the surface level coverage that ESPN has been doing for the longest time.

In my ideal world? He'd be giving us stuff that's similar to what Kobe used to do with his "Details" show

As a basketball fan, that stuff was literal gold. If you're telling me I could now also potentially get something similar, but this time from the brain of Michael Jordan? I am IN.

While the whole actual viewing experience in terms of switching between apps, needing to buy 10,000 streaming services and all that bullshit is going to be annoying as hell to deal with, if you're telling me the content will actually be worth it, then fine. If that includes access to MJ's brain and some real coverage that has actual substance? I'll deal with the minor annoyance of what it'll take me as a fan in order to watch it.
