"Every Team Has A Seal. That's Really How We Won The Finals, I'm Not Going To Lie" - Jaylen Brown Said The Quiet Part Out Loud And Confirmed That Luka Doncic Was The Seal The Celtics Hunted In The 2024 Finals

In 2025, we're starting to see more and more NBA players start to hop on the streaming scene. Kyrie is someone who has really leaned into it recently, LeBron goes on streams, and this year we're also seeing Jaylen Brown be more and more active on his. Just like how NBA players hopped on the podcast game, it's only a matter of time before the same things happens with streaming.

And while the entire streaming world makes me feel old as shit, there's no denying that it can lead to some pretty great moments. When it comes to Jaylen Brown's stream, I would say this qualifies

Ah yes, the Killer Whale Offense. One of Joe Mazzulla's greatest inventions. You may remember this offensive approach as what led to the greatest individual offensive season in NBA history. I know that might seem dramatic, but I'm afraid that's the truth

God, I could look at that picture for hours. Hits every single time.

Anyway, hunting seals was a major part of the Celts' philosophy, which was awesome because their roster was so loaded they could attack from any position on the court. No matter what position the seal may have been playing on the opposing team, the Celts had a way to attack it. They were going to work as a unit to expose the seal, and then boom. Death.

The best part of that entire clip was of course, Jaylen saying the quiet part out loud and confirming what we all knew when it was unfolding in real time. Luka Doncic was the seal in the 2024 NBA Finals. He was the weak link. It didn't matter how good he was offensively, the Celts knew that they could attack him defensively, and once they did that, the Finals were over. A quick 5 game ass kicking despite the entire world picking the Mavs ahead of the Finals. Why? Because Luka couldn't guard for shit. He was the target and had no way to counter what was coming his way. The dude had to do an emergency sit down interview in the middle of the Finals to promise to try on defense! That's something that really happened!

The fact that Jaylen is pretty much confirming what we all thought to be true is my favorite part. Unfortunately, it's all on tape. I'm not even sure how you could debate it. We all saw the Killer Whale Celtics offense circle around Luka during the entire Finals. Put him in every action, and it'll be as if there isn't even a defender in your path. Then, you've created rotation, and once a defense got in rotation against the 2024 Boston Celtics, that was it. You lost. Death by 3PM or death by a play at the rim. You choose, but you weren't going to like either option

This is also what I can't wait to see when it comes to 2025 Luka and the Lakers this season. After an entire summer talking about what great shape he's in, going on a media tour to talk about how good he looks, he now has no excuse to be a disaster on defense. He's rested, he's healthy, and he's supposedly in the best shape of his life. If he's still a cone on defense and is still getting hunted by every team he plays, then who gives a shit if he's skinny?
