Alabama's Kadyn Proctor, 360-Pound Lineman Who Runs The Football, Is One of Best Things in College Football

I hate that I'm even thinking this, but I'm afraid Kalen DeBoer is going to Alabama likable.

Just kidding. Likable would be a reckless word to use to describe Alabama football. There's really only 2 things contributing to me not disliking Alabama with the same fervor I used to. He's not as good as Nick Saban, and he's not afraid to run the football with a fat guy.

I wouldn't mind if ESPN treated Kadyn Proctor lining up in the backfield the way they treated Aaron Judge kind of breaking a home run record a couple years ago. I don't need a big giant half screen cut-in or anything. But a small little window in the corner of the screen so I can watch a fat guy run the football real quick… just as a treat… ESPN has certainly interrupted broadcasts for dumber reasons.

Every 6-year old child who grows up watching football will at some point have the thought, "Why don't they just give the ball to the really fat guy and have him run over everybody."

In reality, it never actually works out like that. But this Kadyn Proctor guy isn't your run of the mill "fat" guy. I shouldn't even be calling him fat. He's clearly in "effective ball carrier in the SEC" levels of shape. He's not slow. He's athletic. He's out there jumping over fallen lineman. He always falls forward. They don't just run him up the middle either. Alabama is finding creative ways to get their 360-pound freak athlete in space.

Honestly, Alabama is probably underutilizing him. After Kadyn Proctor picked that 3rd & 1 (with ease), they went back to their regular-sized backfield and failed to score a touchdown from the 1-yard line. Time to take the training wheels off, Kalen DeBoer. Let's start getting the big guy some first team reps. Let's get Kadyn Proctor a Heisman.

Fat Big guys carrying the football is one of the simple pleasures in life. It's fun every time. I wish there was more of it. Maybe Alabama's success doing so will inspire some other coaches around the league to do more hilarious things.
