MLB's Glazing Of Shohei Ohtani Has Officially Gotten Out Of Control After Last Night's Fly Out To The Wall

For the longest time, one of Major League Baseball's biggest issues was the promotion of their own players. Someone like Mike Trout, who WAS on pace to be one of the greatest players of all time, was rather forgotten about on the Angels. It almost came off like they didn't want to grow their sport at all. It certainly didn't help that if you tweeted out an unofficial clip they'd send the FBI after your family and threaten them at gunpoint.
Thankfully, once guys like Ohtani and Judge rose to superstardom they began to get the idea, especially when it came to Shohei. It finally clicked that they needed to spread the word of their generational athletes anyway they could. In Ohtani's case, if you can attract an additional continent to view your sport it's probably a good idea. As a result Shohei was shoved down our throat. And don't get me wrong, it's fucking absurd what he's able to do on a baseball field. Truly a once in a lifetime player.
But now we've lost the plot. Last night Shohei went 0 for 5 as the Dodgers lost Game 3 to the Phillies and allowed the NLDS to continue. With that being said, did you see his fly out to the wall?
WILD stuff. No seriously what the fuck is that caption/tweet? I can only think of a few reasons why this happened
1) Ben Verlander has a side gig as the MLB social guy
2) Ben Verlander hacked MLB's social
3) MLB knows this is stupid and would get the reaction it deserves while also skyrocketing engagements. Hence this blog. Dammit.
4) They have a rule that if Shohei swings the bat or throws a ball, regardless of result, it must be posted because they know Japan will eat it up.
5) MLB doesn't really know what WILD is
Whatever the answer is, it's fucking stupid. Am I just complaining about shit because the Yankees got eliminated and I'm sad? Extremely possible. Listen, I'm the loser today no doubt, but we can't be glazing over a simple fly out to the warning track in the 7th inning. If it was a homer it wouldn't have even tied the game. Very strange all around. Shohei is an all-time great, but when you post fly outs to the wall like they're can't miss plays you're going to lose people. If Ohtani hit a ball like this last night they would have wiped every other tweet and just made it about the ball nearly leaving the stadium. Manfred may have made the call to the umps to end the game and just award the W to the Dodgers.
But did you see that fly out?
