Buckle Up: LeBron Teases That The "Second Decision" Is Coming On October 7th

Editor's note: I can't imagine being an alive person who actually thinks this is anything but an ad. I am flabbergasted Greenie wrote a whole blog thinking he's actually about to announce his retirement. It's more likely a Prime Day thing than anything since that's tomorrow. Simply stunning.

Remember what a massive deal "The Decision" was back in 2010? I'm pretty sure LeBron had the entire sports world by the balls while we waited to learn his fate after the Celts sent the Cavs home in Game 7 of the second round. You may remember that as the time Paul Pierce & Co broke LeBron and as a result, he decided to form his own version of a superteam down in Miami.

It's how we got to this moment

Safe to say, both the NBA and LeBron's entire career changed forever after that moment. Crazy to think this was already 15 years ago, but that goes to show time really does fly. Fast forward to 2025, and it certainly feels like we're headed for another monumental decision

uhhhhhh this is it right? This is going to be the retirement announcement right? Maybe that's just me falling for whatever marketing gimmick LeBron might be trying here, but you can't call it #TheSecondDecision and then have it be anything other than his retirement announcement right? He's under contract, so it's not like he's going to be letting the world know where he's taking his talents this season, we know that answer. It's the Lakers. Is that going to be the case in the offseason? Who knows.

Given that this season is most likely Chris Paul's farewell tour based on how he's already been dropping hints and the fact that it doesn't feel like KD/Harden/Curry are about to hang them up, is it crazy to think this is LeBron's chance to announce that next season will be his last? That would be a very LeBron thing to do to essentially get two full years of a retirement tour.

We all know this moment is coming eventually, and while the on-court production doesn't suggest it should be any time soon, I don't think anyone would fault LeBron if next season was his last. The dude is in his 40s for crying out loud, he's already on borrowed time as far as I'm concerned.

If this isn't a retirement announcement? Booooooooooooooo. If this is to announce some sort of Euro league or whatever, that'd be lame as hell. That's not #TheSecondDecision in my opinion. To me, that has to be about his decision when it comes to how much longer he's going to play.

We'll know soon enough, but this has to be it. Maybe LeBron didn't want this to be a topic or distraction over the final years of his career, so he's making the announcement ahead of the season. I like the touch of wearing what looks to be the same shirt, and just like in 2010 I'd say LeBron now has us all by the balls. Plenty of fanbases have been praying for this moment for over a decade, and it sure does feel like they're finally about to get their wish.
