UNC Finally Posted a Single Drake Maye Highlight Monday Morning After a Report That Bill Belichick Would Not Allow Any Mention of the Patriots

Ross Martin of 247Sports came out with a report Monday morning that there is apparently a directive from the top of the North Carolina football program that there is to be no mention of the New England Patriots by anyone in Chapel Hill. That report was seemingly corroborated by the fact that Drake Maye, maybe the only positive recruiting tool North Carolina has at the moment, went on the road to Buffalo on Sunday Night Football and beat the best team in the NFL, yet there was no mention of it on UNC's social media pages.

There may have been an early-morning crisis meeting, though, because just as I started to write that Maye was completely absent from their pages, a single highlight from last night's game spliced with a clip of Maye at UNC went up at 9:56 a.m. ET.

Maybe UNC just really wanted to make sure it hit the crazy internet traffic of Monday morning instead of during Sunday Night Football, the highest-rated television show in America, to showcase its top NFL alumnus. But I don't think that report came out of nowhere.

If your entire recruiting pitch is that Bill Belichick will prepare you for the NFL but you're spending every Saturday afternoon getting your doors blown off by middling ACC teams, Drake Maye should be plastered on your Twitter and Instagram pages so much that your own fans consider muting you on Sundays. What positive aspects of the program does UNC have to sell to recruits right now? Easy ticket acquisition for family members?

A Drake Maye 7-yard scramble should be posted with an emoji for every yard. There are a hundred programs who would kill to be able to claim this guy right now and sell that vision in recruiting.

I wish every UNC fan the best of luck with the remainder of the Chapel Bill experiment.
