Nic Cage Is Reuniting With His 'Con Air' Director For A WW2 Espionage Thriller And Bringing Alice Eve With Him Too? SOLD!
(Deadline) - Simon West’s (Con Air) World War II espionage action-adventure Fortitude began principal photography on September 8 in London and has assembled an eye-catching cast. The ensemble comprises Matthew Goode (The Imitation Game), Ed Skrein (Jurassic World: Rebirth), Jordi Mollà (Mobland), Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness), Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon), Art Malik (True Lies), Lukas Haas (Inception), Adrian Topol (Franz + Polina), Emilio Sakraya (Sixty Minutes), Paul Anderson (Peaky Blinders), Ben Kingsley (Ghandi) and Nicolas Cage (Con Air).
The movie is based on the true story of British Intelligence operatives using unprecedented strategic operations to fool Nazi leadership and help change the course of World War II. With historical consultation from Joshua Levine (Dunkirk), the film follows the brilliance of British Army officers Dudley Clarke and Thomas Argyll “Tar” Robertson, who deployed an elaborate web of deception campaigns, including fictitious armies, fake military equipment, and a network of double agents to mislead Nazi Intelligence. Among them was Yugoslavian playboy Dusko Popov, a real-life double agent, who is said to have inspired Ian Fleming’s James Bond character.
It's about fucking time Nic Cage reunites with Simon West! What the hell took them so long? And although this espionage plot sounds pretty thrilling, I'm mainly holding out hope this means a 'Con Air' sequel is coming from them next.
Long overdue for a return to that cosmic gumbo, and I know John Cusack would be available.

But there's no doubt World War II movies where Nazis get put in a blender always play, so this story does seem primed to scratch that itch in spades.
Also don't know dick about Dusko Popov, sounds like he was an absolute legend.
Filming just started last week, so there aren't a lot of details out yet. No idea who Nic Cage is playing but fingers crossed it's an American hero who hails from Alabama.
RUN THAT ACCENT BACK NIC!!
Cameron Poe from the movie Con Air is known for the distinctive, and often criticized, Southern accent that Nicolas Cage uses for the character. Cage underwent dialect training to achieve this Alabama accent for the role of the Alabama-born protagonist, but some opinions suggest he didn't quite get it right, with the accent being described as a "horrible" attempt or a "weird accent choice".
Hey Google AI Overview, FUCK YOU pal! Cameron Poe is a legend. Don't even try to say otherwise.
And I'm not just saying that because he's hanging up in my hallway…

Or because I just ordered this other Oscar winning decor…

The point is, any cinema that Nic Cage decides to create is a level of art that belongs in the Louvre. Let's just respect that fact of life and enjoy our current Cageaissance.
But hey, even if you don't fuck with him I think I can convince you to buy back your stock in Alice Eve. Truly the type of comeback we can all get behind.
PS: Shout out 'Crossing Over'! RIP Ray Liotta
