'Put The Game In Our Hands, We'll Make It Work' - Jared Goff's Quote After Sealing The Win Is Exactly Why Dan Campbell Isn't Afraid To Constantly Put His Nuts On The Table
We all saw the play that happened last night because we all watch football. 4th and short at midfield, under 2 minutes to go and Dan Campbell knew what to do. You don't punt the ball. You try and seal the game. At the minimum you pick up the first down and run the clock to make the Ravens burn timeouts. What we saw was smart coaching from a guy everyone assumed was just a meathead who didn't understand game management. But what makes it even better? Jared Goff's statement after the game:
Yeah, that's the sort of line you want a QB1 to say. Tough to argue that Jared Goff doesn't have an ideal life. Dude is considered a savior of an NFL team, was the number 1 pick, beloved by his fanbase, married a model and is worth more money than all of us combined. I'd put the game in his hands too. I know people like to bring up the NFC Championship game against the 49ers when they want to talk about Dan Campbell not being a good coach, but look at what he did. You simply can't argue against him anymore. He turned the Lions into a winning franchise. He actually has real Super Bowl expectations in Detroit. Last night was just another prime example of it. Bunch of 90+ yard drives, answering whenever Baltimore scored and then sealing the game this way.
Oh and as for, what about Ben Johnson? Yeah, the Lions plays still rule.
Even Troy Aikman knows that Dan Campbell isn't afraid to use his gigantic balls:
A lot of coaches like to say they are tough and would go for it here. They wouldn't. We see it all the time. They shrink up and punt the ball, then use things like field position, clock and trusting the defense to justify it. The lesson as always is just go win the game on your own.
