"Go Out There And Play Like You Have The Country On Your Back– Because You Do" - It's Ryder Cup Week and Team USA Dropped A Behind The Scenes Video You Need To See
Yep, it's a seven-minute video. You can stop scrolling TikTok or X.com and lock in because this is a must-see.
“Go out there and play like you have the country on your back– because you do.”
Those words came Monday morning from Lieutenant Chris Mascali, a member of the FDNY. Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley asked Mascali to address Team USA as they begin Ryder Cup Week at Bethpage Black in New York.
Chris's dad, Joe Mascali, was a 14-year veteran of the FDNY himself. He died on 9/11, and Chris brought his dad's jacket and helmet along to both show and present to Team USA.
Both the jacket and the helmet worn by Joe Mascali now reportedly have a home in the Team USA locker room. Mascali's address to the team was preceded by a fellow FDNY teammate, Bryan Robinson, singing the National Anthem.
“I had this vision of doing that for about a year,” Bradley said. “And to be out there and see it, and see how emotional the guys got, was a really special time for our team.”
I can't speak for the players, but as a viewer at home, I was ready to run through a brick wall by the end of Chris's talk to the team. He spoke with emotion about his dad, golf, and the importance of the Ryder Cup.

"This is more than just golf, this is for our country, Mascali told those around the first tee at Bethpage Black on Monday morning. "Play with grit. Play with fire. Play with arrogance and swagger. Go out there and play like you have the country on your back because you do," Mascali implored the team.
Bradley himself is an emotional player, so it's no surprise that he's using emotion to get his team ready for the three-day showdown with Team Europe, which begins on Friday morning.

Team USA has lost on home soil only four times since the Ryder Cup began back in 1927. The most recent home loss was Europe's huge comeback on the final day to win at Medinah. Two years ago in Italy, Europe swept the Friday morning session and cruised to an easy victory.
It's time for Team USA to wake up. They're coming under fire for getting paid to play in this event. Golf curmudgeon Brandel Chamblee is shitting all over Bryson. It feels like everyone is rooting for Europe this week: Team USA vs. the World. Good.
"As we say in the FDNY, 'Go get 'em, brothers.' This is your moment. I wish you all the best of luck. God Bless America. Let's go get a 'W' for them," Mascali concluded.
If Mascali's address doesn't get Team USA fired up, nothing will. Now go watch the video.
