A Week After Looking Like One of the Most Exciting Teams in the NFL, the Falcons Are Back to Sucking
After a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers that would have gone to overtime if not for a Younghoe Koo missed field goal as time expired followed by a road drubbing of the Vikings on Sunday Night Football, it seemed like Michael Penix and the Falcons may have actually figured something out coming into 2025. The rookies on defense looked like they were going to be real impact players that would be the necessary compliment to an offense that seemed like it had some life and explosiveness again.
Well, so much for all that.
Atlanta, as a road favorite of nearly a touchdown at Carolina, looked like a team that would struggle to win four or five more games on Sunday. Penix had his worst game as a pro and nobody else on the field outside of Bijan Robinson seemed particularly interested in stepping up, either. Just a complete no-show of a performance by the entire team.
Honestly, I'm just encouraged this happened now. This team will lose to Washington and Buffalo in the next two weeks and then at 1-4, every Falcons fan can find some great fall activities to fill their Sunday afternoons for the rest of the year. Sleep in, go to the late church service, have a nice lunch somewhere and then enjoy the pumpkin patch or whatever you want to do. Free yourself from this mess.
