Mark Pope Reminded Louisville They Will Always Be Little Brother And Got Into A Reported Verbal Altercation With Pat Kelsey Outside A Recruit's House
[Source] - The word “fight” is likely an exaggeration, but even if the two simply had a verbal spat, as a source told Jacob Polacheck, the story is juicy and further proof that the Kentucky vs. Louisville rivalry is so back.
“Per my sources, Pope was set to meet with Kinney at midnight that first night that coaches could meet with players, and Kelsey was supposed to meet with him shortly afterwards,” Polacheck said on KSR Happy Hour. “I was told that Pope was running late to the meeting and Kelsey was already there, so Kelsey decided to go in, start his meeting Tay Kinney and I was told Pope was upset. There were some words exchanged. I was told it’s an exaggeration to say they nearly came to blows, but there was definitely some animosity between the two.”
Oh hell yeah, Mark Pope! You don't let this little pipsqueak walk around and try to do something he shouldn't. Much like any big brother, you have to take them out to the front yard and embarrass them in front of everyone. Maybe it's giving them a noogie, a wedgie or just straight up some punches in the front yard, this is what big brothers do and we all know that Louisville can't touch Kentucky in any sort of basketball talk. They are the epitome of little brother who wants to scream and throw a fit for attention.
The best part? Louisville lost Tay Kinney. All the reports are saying he's going to Kansas right now after Louisville had the lead. Don't blame him there, why go to the second best program in the state when you can go somewhere else? This is what I needed to read. I needed some fire back in this rivalry because 1) it's not even competitive and 2) Pat Kelsey is just kinda there. He doesn't encourage rage unless he's wearing red and that all changes now.
Let's be honest. We know who would win if this turned into a street fight:
Hint: It's not the guy on his tippy toes looking up to the sky. It's the former NBA player. If my coach isn't willing to fight in a Northern Kentucky front yard, I don't want him. This is why you hire Mark Pope. You hire Mark Pope to win big games, remind Louisville they are little brother. Get me to the season and the cowards from the Louisville making us play the rivalry game way too early.
