Drew Gilbert Is A Maniac And He's Exactly What The Game Of Baseball Needs

Baseball has had some really fun psychopath players throughout the years. Nyjer Morgan had a screw or 2 loose, Tommy Pham has proved several times he's a psychopath, Brian Wilson also wore the psycho crown. This game needs characters like those guys and Drew Gilbert is the next up. Watch this damn highlight reel and tell me he's not perfect as the crazy face of baseball. He's the kid on your t-ball team who would drink Surge and eat hot Cheetos on the bench, we've all been friends with one of these kids. But he's the perfect glue guy for the Giants, each team needs a guy like this to keep the clubhouse loose, keep people on their toes, never know when he's going to bite your pitchers jersey like he did with Robbie Ray. I mean the guy gives his all to get the guys pumped up, he'll do whatever it takes. He may will this team to a playoff spot himself, maybe he's the reason they're 13-4 in their last 17 games.

Yes, even have Matt Chapman choke him after Chapman's home runs. Maybe he's just into it, that's cool man. Very Papelbon - Harper like, I love it. But this is just who he is. The ADHD kid who bounces off the walls all game long. It's like having a golden retriever in the dugout the whole game, I guarantee you they have to chain him up so he doesn't jump into the stands and chase foul balls. But how can you not love the energy? You're 145 games into the season, you have to switch something up, you gotta keep it fresh and I don't think I've seen anyone keep it more fresh than Gilbert in the Giants dugout.

You can tell Robbie Ray has young kids at home and has to deal with shit like this all the time, this is a normal Tuesday for him. Who else has the onions to bite a veteran pitchers sleeve mid-game in the dugout? He's just always going. I get big time "kid on a leash" vibes from DG too, his parents probably had no choice but to leash up in public.

Usually it's a reliever who is crazy, but not in this case. He's a 24 year-old spark plug who humps the railing post home runs, he's singly handily trying to will the Giants to a playoff spot from the dugout. He may be the most impactful person in baseball who has exactly 3 home runs. He's a maniac and he's perfect for baseball. I'm pulling hardcore for the Giants to make the playoffs so we can get this guy in October. I'd think you have to put him on the roster? Ride the good vibes all the way to the NLCS or something, he'd become a star.

He's grown to be a fan favorite since getting traded over the Mets and it's easy to see why. This is the kind of guy who knows his role and plays it well, he's a maniac and has 0 problem letting it fly in the dugout. This kid rocks.
