Rajon Rondo is Spending His Retirement The Right Way, Dominating as a Rec League Flag Football Quarterback

I can find zero evidence that actually points towards Rajon Rondo being the #1 ranked flag football QB in America. In fact, I can find zero evidence that points towards the existence of any sort of individual flag football player rankings. Every post claiming that cites @Frankie_Vision as their source, and it kinda seems like all he did was tweet some bullshit.

Obviously, Rajon Rondo does not play for Team USA Flag Football. Which thanks to the 2028 Olympics, we now know exists. Not only do they exist, but they outwardly believe they deserve to represent our country in the Olympics more so than our best NFL players.

I have nothing but respect for 5-foot-7, Housh the Douche. He should believe in himself like that. And if the universe drops an outside shot at being a real life Olympic Gold Medalist in your lap, you've gotta fight for that opportunity. But if Team USA is looking to spice things up, and try win a few more fans over to their side of that argument, maybe they should give Rondo a call. Clearly people would rather watch Patrick Mahomes play in the Olympics over fucking Darrell. But if the starting QB job came down to Patrick Mahomes vs Rajon Rondo… idk… I'm just saying… USA QB1 Rajon Rondo has a nice ring to it. Could be pretty fun. And for the record, an official USA Flag Football account did "reach out" to Rondo (via Instagram post).

Hypothetically speaking (i.e. for the sake of a blog), out of all the non-football athletes who's game could translate into being an elite flag football QB, Rondo's got a pretty damn good resume. He played quarterback in high school. He's a phenomenal passer. His basketball IQ and vision on the court were as strong as pretty much any player in NBA history.

He even said in an interview one time that he maybe-sorta thinks he could have given the NFL a shot. Doc Rivers called him Tom Brady.

People really don't give Rondo enough credit for arguably being the best player on the 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics. They always lead off with the Big 3 of Garnett, Pierce, and Allen. But that team ran through Rondo. Imagine if he could shoot the ball… at all…

I mostly just love watching Rajon Rondo play flag football, because Rajon Rondo is doing exactly what I imagine I would do as a retired professional athlete. Which is sit back with my money and spend my free time dominating various rec league sports. I can't say the quality of play in that flag football highlight package looks especially impressive. But it does look like Rondo is having an impressive amount of fun. He can do whatever the hell he wants out there. He's throwing the ball underhand for christ sakes. He's just toying with the other team. Nobody is going to sack him. There's not a WR or DB who's going to out jump him. Every game is the Rajon Rondo show. Opposing flag football teams must hate to see him show up. To just know you're about to spend an afternoon getting embarrassed by someone who's not even breaking a sweat.

P.S. Since we're talking about flag football, I'm putting this idea back out in to the universe. If USA wants to fairly decide who should represent us in Olympic Flag Football… there's one very obvious, very fair, and very fun answer…
