'I'll Play Him For Any Amount He Wants' - PGA Tour Member Robert Garrigus Is Challenging Jordan Spieth To A Match For The Right To Play In Signature Events

Hell yeah. This is the sort of Match that should be happening, not NFL quarterback vs NFL quarterback or anything like that. There's always been argument with sponsor invites, especially with signature events. It's not exactly rocket science to figure out why a sponsor would invite Jordan Spieth to an event over someone like Robert Garrigus. For those not familiar with the signature events, it's limited field, easier to make way more money and elevated compared to regular tournaments.

Well, now Robert Garrigus wants in. I'd watch the shit out of this sort of match with real stakes on the line. I know it's a .01% chance Spieth accepts, because he has everything to lose. Sure, he could take a million off of Garrigus, but playing in the signature events is way more valuable. But this is the sort of drama golf needs. Not LIV vs PGA or anything like that. A match for the right to play in big time events.

I say set it up in the offseason. Set it up during a slow week of sports and play it in primetime. That's how you get views, that's how you get people riled up. I admire the balls on Garrigus to call Spieth out and challenge him, now we need to make it happen. In fact I'd say leave a spot open for every signature event and draw two names to play in a match on that Monday to get the right to play in the event.

Your move, Jordan.
