The British Are Once Again Trying To Push For A Super Bowl To Be Played In London - We Simply Can't Let This Happen
[Tweet] - Could we see a Super Bowl played OUTSIDE of the United States? British ambassador Peter Mandelson is making a strong push for it to happen. “I’ve made a big pitch for the first Super Bowl outside the U.S. to take place in Britain. I want that Super Bowl in Britain. I don’t care when it takes place but I want it announced while I’m ambassador.”
Look, I know there's not a lot everyone will agree on, but this is one. The Super Bowl is made for Americans, by Americans and needs to stay in America. I'm sick and tired of these international games, we're getting it at the college level now. What does Kansas State vs Iowa State in Dublin do for anyone? Nothing. It makes no goddamn sense and I refuse to let us lose to the Super Bowl to London. London games are made for the Jaguars.
I think it's simple if we're being honest. The Super Bowl only belongs in these places:
1. New Orleans
2. Las Vegas
3. Miami
4. Los Angeles
5. Indianapolis
6. Tampa
7. Atlanta
That's really it. I'll listen to Houston and Arizona but those kind of suck in terms of getting to and from the stadium. You may be wondering why Indy is on that list. Well, I was there when Eli Manning connected with Mario Manningham on one of the best passes in football history and that city knows how to handle a big time event. Doesn't matter the sport, Indy is set up for events. I'll die on that hill, even after the Final Four.
But this isn't about arguing cities. This is about us coming together and making our voices heard. We can't lose a Super Bowl to England. It's called football, not soccer, goddamnit! I don't even know how it would work. We can't be getting like a 9:30 game here otherwise you're making them play at 11:30 pm local time with the normal 6:30 kickoff. I don't know a lick about this ambassador fella, but I don't care for him. You gotta offer a whole lot more in a trade for the Super Bowl.
