It Sounds Like Mike Vrabel is NOT a Fan of the Viral Video of Stefon Diggs Living the High Life on Cardi B's Boat

One of the first things Mike Vrabel made clear when he first took the Patriots job in January - even if he didn't come right out and say it - was that he was looking to change the culture in New England. Presumably back to something closer to what it was in his playing days: A culture of hard work, smart football and accountability, on and off the field. We can assume that because that was his priority as a team captain here and every place he's coached since.

Another point he did overtly make, was that success isn't about how it is when everything's going perfectly, but how your team responds when nothing is going right. Or words to that effect.

I bring this up because with OTAs happening today, Vrabel is having to address his first episode of things not going right. Courtesy of this video from the long weekend, starring his new WR1:

Patriots Wire - New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged he was aware of the viral video of wide receiver Stefon Diggs going around.

It's a video of Diggs on a boat with multiple women that has been circulating online. Diggs can be heard asking the women, "What's my name?" They then call him "daddy" before he passes what looks like a small ziplock bag to one of the women with unknown contents. …

"Obviously, we want to make great decisions on and off the field, and we're hoping that with our time here on the field today, and when you don't have a script and we're on the call periods, that we're making great decisions," said Vrabel. "So the message will be the same for all of the players. Try to make great decisions. Any conversations that I've had with Stefon will remain between him and I."

You can certainly see his point. I mean, he's not running a program for Mormons here. I'm sure if his players want to have fun on a boat on their free time over Memorial Day Weekend in the company of lovely adult females, he's all for it. Everyone deserves the chance to blow off steam. And by all accounts Diggs has been putting in the time and effort to rehab from his ACL and looks like he's way ahead of schedule. All this is positive.

It's that baggy where things get sticky. It could be lots of things, I suppose. People replying to my post have theories, though I'll have to plead ignorance on some of the terminology:

I won't speculate. For all I know that's a pink sticker on one of those individually wrapped pickles they sell on the counter at every gas station where fine foods are sold. Unless the stuff inside is what's making it look pink. I have a bag of Hawaiian seasoning my sister brought me back from the islands that looks very much like it.

What I will say is either way, you don't want to be creating this situation. Not when you signed a 3-year, $69 million deal and haven't been able to set foot on a practice field yet. Not when the head coach who recruited you is trying to make personal responsibility a top priority. Not when your last position coach vouched for you to his brother, your new offensive coordinator. Come to think of it, not ever. Like there is no situation in which handing a mysterious zip lock bag to a group of curvy women on video and letting it be posted to the world is acceptable. Even if the boat is beyond US territory in international waters and no crime is being committed. You're not only setting a bad tone on a team where you're expected to be a veteran leader. You're also inviting frequent visits from the NFL's Pee Patrol.

Basically none of this is conducive to doing better than 4-13. And we're a fanbase that has had enough of that to last a lifetime. So please, Stefon Diggs, we're begging you. Have all the fun you want on your down time. But please try to keep it wholesome and family friendly, like this other video:

Then come ready to work when your knee can take it. That's the kind of accountable, veteran leader this franchise is looking for. Thank you in advance.
