Full Time Pipefitter Malcolm Wellmaker Delivers A Jaw Dropping KO In HIs UFC Debut

Talk about a nice feel-good blue collar story right here! Malcolm Wellmaker was an 8-0 professional mixed martial artist coming into this UFC Kansas City card tonight (who really impressed on Dana White's Contender Series in August with a first round knockout) - but he also worked full time as a pipefitter welder.

Wellmaker even made some content about his double-life in the build to his official UFC debut....

....and tonight he delivered an instant highlight reel knockout over Cameron Saaiman - and said if he gets a $50k performance bonus for that finish he would be able to quit his job on Monday....

Knowing how Dana White operates, I'd be SHOCKED if Wellmaker doesn't get a bonus tonight. Even if it's not an "official" bonus (which I think it will be) I'd imagine Dana would hook it up for him privately to make sure the UFC is his one and only focus after a debut like that. What a great story, and great knockout.

Oh, and speaking of great knockouts, Randy Brown became the first man to ever finish Nicolas Dalby tonight - and it was a fucking awesome fight….

Dalby's nose was shattered at that point but he was so resilient and had so much heart they reset it between rounds and he just kept fighting until Brown faceplanted him (almost Holloway/Gaethje style)! You gotta love fight nights with live crowds! Instantly elevates the whole vibe and it seemingly has an effect on the action as well!

Did I use the right "effect" there? Should I have said "affect"? Should I have taken the coward's way out and substituted "impact" in there? I'm gonna end this blog before I embarrass myself further.
