The Latest Resurfaced CIA Report Says They've Spent Decades Searching for Noah's Ark, and Now it Might Have Been Found

The story of Noah's Ark is most definitely an "eye of the beholder" topic. Depending on whose doing the talking, it's truth, fable, allegory, archetype, example of the "flood myth" common to civilizations all around the world, decorative wall art in your kid's Sunday School classroom, pillow your mother-in-law sewed for them when they were babies, subject of an Irish pub song, or only the second best movie Russell Crowe ever made where he was the captain of a wooden ship. Your views may vary.

But to the Central Intelligence Agency of these United States, Noah's was apparently one of two Old Testament arks our top intelligence officials felt were important enough to be worth searching the globe for. First there was this one:

And now we're hearing about the one with the animals. Which might have actually just been found:

Source - After scientists recently claimed to locate Noah's Ark, an unearthed CIA document reveals that the agency knew where the Biblical ship has been for over 50 years.

A four-page report known as 'Report Re: Noah's Ark' details how the CIA secretly searched for the Ark's location for nearly a decade, hoping to prove the legend true. …

Scientists this month declared that a boat-shaped mound 18 miles south of Mount Ararat in Turkey is actually the fossilized remains of a massive vessel.

Soil samples showed traces of clay-like materials, marine deposits, and ancient remnants of marine life dating back to the time of Noah. The team also suggested that the findings showed human activities in around Mt Ararat.

The CIA file, declassified in 2002, appears to reveal that the US intelligence community has had their eyes on this exact spot since 1957.

The agency investigated Mt Ararat from 1974 to 1982 using images from satellites and spy planes after the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) requested for any evidence of the Ark sitting at the site.

The CIA papers details how … DCI William Colby, who headed the CIA from 1973 to 1976, was ordered to develop and advanced technology looking for satellite photography of Mt Ararat in 1974.

The request came from Lt. Col. Walter Brown, a high ranking officials in the US Air Force, who was on a mission to determine 'whether any evidence of the Ark could be found.'

The reason the Air Force was interested in Noah's Ark was not given.

If I might take a stab at that last sentence, why wouldn't the US Air Force be interested in Noah's Ark? Why wouldn't the Army, the Navy, the Boy Scouts, the League of Women Voters, the National Hockey League … why would everyone alive or who's ever lived NOT want to know we've found the actual ark?

If I thought I had the pull to message the Director of the CIA and get him to send spy planes around and reroute satellites to prove that God ordered a 600 year old man to build a 450-foot long ship out of gopher wood and to pack two of every animal onto it so He could flood the world for 40 days and 40 nights, of course I would. Especially given that God did so because humanity had not been living up to His standards, so He decided it was time to put us back to our factory settings and reboot. Given the state of civilization today, I think we should all be a little more than curious to know this happened. Lt. Col. Brown of the USAF just happened to have the juice with DCI Colby to get it done.

So no, I absolutely have no issue with the CIA spending it's time, resources, and manpower on a search for the Ark. They didn't have to be spending all their time from 1974 to '82 toppling governments, overturning elections and installing friendly dictators. Even in the height of the Cold War, they had the bandwidth to walk, chew gum, arm rebels, and look for ancient Biblical artifacts at the same time. So good on them. Even though they couldn't find what they were after, at least they were looking in the right spot. Or so it seems.

But again, just like with the Ark of Covenant story, the timing on this one is curious. Suspicious, even. Again, this was all declassified in 2002. So why is this just making the rounds now? Because researchers think they've found it? Or is this another case of the Agency resurfacing very old news as part of a psyop. Possibly to deflect from other stories that won't put the Spying Industrial Complex in nearly as good a light as them looking for sacred relics:

Until further notice, I'm taking any such grandiose pronouncements with a grain of salt. If over the next few months we start getting reports that the CIA has proof of aliens, Bigfoot, Loch Ness, Lizard People, you name it, I'm just going to assume there's some bigger news they're trying to distract us from.

That said, I hope that is the actual Noah's Ark up there on Mt. Ararat and that science can prove it. Even if it means there was a great flood of retribution that wiped out most of humanity. Sometimes I think we're overdue for another.
