Decent Second Job: Ken Griffey Jr. Is Working As A Credentialed Photographer At The Masters, Still An All-Time Cool Athlete
I don't know if there are many people who the entire world agrees is cool. Ken Griffey Jr. is maybe the only one? I don't know of any person, especially who grew up when Griffey was at his peak, who hated him. I've never met one person or seen one person come out and say they didn't like Ken Griffey. He was the ultimate cool athlete. The backwards hat, the elite nickname, the swing, hitting The Warehouse at the Derby, it didn't matter. He was just awesome.
So what's he up to now? Oh nothing, just becoming a credential photographer who gets to work The Masters. He's worked other events before, but this is The Masters. You look at some of the pictures and this is all from him:

This is someone who decided to pick up being a photographer as a way to connect with his kids more:
[Source] - “I was still playing — and I understand what my dad felt like coming to watch me play — but now with social media it was a little different everybody is like oh Ken’s here,” he said. “My daughter literally stopped dribbling a basketball and just looked at me, when she was five, and I was like ‘OK I’ve got to pay more attention to what’s going on.’ And I figured nobody’s messing with the photographer, well let me pick it up.”
Yeah, so, he's just awesome at anything he does. That's basically my takeaway from this. He was in a dunk contest and actually pretty good there, of course.
Now he's taking pictures that are being circulated around at the most famous golf event in the world. Not bad! It is somewhat fitting that him and Randy Johnson are now just professional photographers.
All I know is now I need Ken Griffey to get the iconic shot of this Masters. I don't care if it's the winning putt, maybe Jon Rahm snapping a club or whatever moment really stands out. I need that person to look up and see Griffey behind the camera lens. Dude has life figured out.
