Brutal Day: Nick Dunlap Had One Of The Single Worst Rounds In Masters History By Shooting A 90 (Didn't Have A Three Putt Though)

[Source] - Dunlap became just the 11th golfer to fail to break 90 in the first round of the famed major tournament after carding 18-over on Thursday afternoon.

It's the first time a player has failed to break 90 since Ben Crenshaw shot 91 in the first round of the 2015 Masters Tournament. Only four players have achieved the unwelcome feat since 2000.

That's it, I've seen enough from Nick Dunlap. Get him on Breaking 90 with Trent right this second. I'll give Dunlap credit though because he at least now set the line for 'what would the average golfer' shoot at Augusta debate. Nick Dunlap is not the average golfer. He won the US Amateur, he was the first Amateur to win on the PGA Tour since Phil did it in 1991. But he just shot a 90. That's one of the worst rounds you'll ever see at The Masters.

Good news though. Somehow, he didn't three putt:

Putter was kinda hot! Straighten out the drive, get some greens in regulation and you're looking at breaking 80 the next round. Build on that and the 6 pars. I will say shooting a 90 is way better than like an 82. This gets people talking about you, sure, for all the wrong reasons, but people talking about you. Plus, he's shot 80 recently. This was his third score of 80+ in his last seven rounds. No one was talking about the 80s though, it took a 90 on the card for us to notice him.

He's gotta treat tomorrow like a practice round. It's clear he has some sort of yips right now. You gotta do anything possible to get rid of that. I don't care if it's golf, sports, anything in life, the yips is worst case scenario. Again, none of us are doing it at something like The Masters, but this is where we are with Dunlap. That or just go all the way in with another 90. Set history before everyone forgets about it when we get to the weekend.
