Turn Back The Clock: Fred Couples Holes Out From 191 For Eagle, Gets To -1 And Starts Smooching His Club As A Thank You
Boom Boom! The man is putting on a show today:
Now on 14 he's got a hole out eagle from 191. This is how you turn back the clock. 65 years old, using what I believe is a 7 wood there, playing with a yellow ball and finds himself towards the top of the leaderboard. This is a man who won the Masters in 1992. He made 23 straight cuts here before missing it in 2008. Didn't matter, he came back and finished 6th in 2010. He's missed the cut 5 of the last 6 Tournaments, but he has found some sort of magic here.
I love the move to kiss your club. Yeah, you might have the prettiest swing the sport has seen, but as every dad says 'let the club do the work.' If the club does the work, you thank it. You thank it by planting kisses all over it as you are celebrating in the fairway. Have a day Freddy.
He's going into 17 at -1, tied for 8th. I'm now all in on trying to will Fred Couples to the weekend. There's something about him at Augusta that works. He gave us the celebration with the patrons and now kissing the club. Ultimate showman.
