Good Reminder Of The Best Rule In Sports - Ludvig Aberg Loves The No Cell Phones At Augusta, Makes Everything Feel More Amplified
We know all about the no cell phone rule at Augusta. We know about all the 'crazy rules at Augusta. You know what? I love it. I love every single one of them because it's what makes Augusta just that. I've been lucky enough to go to The Masters a couple years ago:
Was with my dad, brother and brother-in-law, so it made it very easy. We knew at some point if everyone got split up that you'd just meet by the concession stand because I was housing pimento cheese sandwiches and the Crows Nest beer. Now, this is strictly about the no phone rule. It's honestly perfect. I never once thought about my phone outside of wanting a single picture of myself and family members at Augusta. Other than that, it didn't matter. You get lost a little bit. You take in all the weird tendencies of Augusta and how the course is laid out.
But like Aberg said, you actually just watch the golf. I know, it's a baffling concept but there are too many times you're watching a major sporting event and everyone is on their phone. Remember this?
Yeah, you don't get that for The Masters. You get patrons (not fans) watching the world's best take on the most famous course probably in the world. You just sit there, talk to your group as you take it all in. It's legit a bucket list item for any person who has ever watched golf.
I know you can't do this at every sporting event. There is something about hearing Aberg talk about how practice rounds feel like the main event because patrons are just watching you. It's adds to the lore of Augusta.
PS: This is still the funniest rule strictly because of watching people speed walk
