WWE's Kevin Owens Responds To Matt Riddle Calling Him "Hard To Work With"

Former WWE superstar Matt Riddle recently did an interview with the 'Going Ringside' podcast and said that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were particularly hard to work with during his time in the company, and that he couldn't put a complete sentence together around them....

“When I think about who’s harder to maybe work with, I’d have to say Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens because it’s hard to put a complete sentence together with those guys, if you know what I’m saying,” Riddle said. “Yeah, they’re difficult. Sheamus hits you hard, but it’s easy to put together.”

I had Kevin Owens join My Mom's Basement this weekend to discuss the neck injury that will now force him out of WrestleMania this year (which fucking SUCKS), but also figured I'd ask him about this quote - and it didn't come as a shock to KO....

“It’s funny coming from him, I have nothing against him at all but you know, to me, he’s a guy who had really amazing opportunities handed to him like being Randy’s tag partner, and basically getting to ride the coattails of a legend, and he managed to screw it all up, not because of his abilities, but because of his own attitude and poor choices. So for him to say we’re hard to work with and he couldn’t get a word in….there is a pretty good reason for that. You look at our track record and his track record, I think that speaks for itself.”

I think Kevin's right when he says his track record speaks for itself. He's still been trusted with two WrestleMania main events now - one against a returning "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in Texas - he was booked to beat John Cena clean in his first main roster match, he was the first wrestler in the company allowed to bring back the piledriver (a previously banned move), and he's consistently been one of the best performers in the WWE since his debut. 

Hell, on the same day this Riddle quote dropped, the below quote from wrestling legend Rhyno came out as well….

“I was working with Kevin Owens and this was in Ring of Honor,” Rhyno said (per Wrestling Inc). “He goes ‘Come in the ring.’ We were having our match, he goes ‘Hit so and so with a spear, hit this person with a spear, hit the referee with a spear.’ Usually, if you do one, you can’t do two, three right in a row and I did it.”

He continued, “[There’s] something about Owens. Montreal guys, they really have good psychology. He goes ‘Trust me.’ I go ‘Because it’s you, [I will],’ and I did. Holy cow, it just went up and up and up. It was really cool. He was right.”

I really liked Riddle's work in the WWE, but as KO said - this is a funny quote coming from him. Like, get real dude. No offense.
