Thank GOD Joe B and Locker Were On The Call For 895

I cannot believe the NHL tried to drag this away from Joe B and Locker. I will never get over it. The NHL and the national media has spent the better part of 2 decades trashing Ovi, making up fake narratives about him, slobbering Crosby and trashing Ovi (instead of praising both of them), and then decided to make the goal chase *their* thing. So now hold that thought...

Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin are universally considered to be one of the best, if not THE best, broadcast teams in the NHL. Joe B himself should be a national broadcaster, and we are so lucky that he's been in DC instead of being poached by a major network. Together, they have called Ovechkin's entire career and been the soundtrack to nearly all of his goals. It was very unfortunate when the Caps won the Cup and they weren't on the call, but obviously that is understandable, the Stanley Cup *should* be national. But if you think about it from a broadcaster's perspective, that is what you live for. You call all these games and want to be the voice of the biggest possible moment.

So that is why it was absolute horse shit the NHL tried to make the voice of 895 a random national jabroni instead of the 2 guys who rightfully deserved it. Joe and Locker have spent their life calling Ovi's goals so thank the good lord they got to call the biggest one of his career.

And by the way, we did put shirts on sale to commemorate it.

This one is my favorite:
