A 2017 Clip Has Emerged Where Bernstein Explains Why He Never Liked Barstool

And at the end of the day, Bernstein's hatred for Barstool, at least publicly, is born out of the same thing most of the Barstool hatred comes from...ignorance. 

He drew a line in the sand over an event that he heard about 2nd or 3rd hand that occured in probably 2014. I wasn't at this event so I don't want to speculate too much, but I have known Big Cat since 2013 now. I have a VERY hard time believing the interaction he had at that blogger conference in Chicago was "very ugly". Bernstein said he doesn't consume it, but doesn't like the stoolies going after people. Doesn't like online harassment by our audience or misogyny. Checks out. Bernstein was fired for online harassment and had to issue an apology earlier in his career for misogyny. This was the comment that got him in trouble way back when

• Spiegel: “Aiyana Cristal makes me uncomfortable. I feel how hard she’s trying & end up awkwardly rooting for her to finish cleanly.”

• Bernstein: “I have no rooting interest in her work, but enjoy her giant boobs.”
• Spiegel: “I am improbably distracted from them by her professional discomfort. It’s a crime.”
• Bernstein: “That’s a complicated thought. Unpacking that is beyond me.”
• Spiegel: “I contain multitudes.”
• Bernstein: “Boobs.”
• Speigel: “By the way, Cubs hitting coach John Mallee is imparting wisdom on CSN right now. You’re not allowed to listen or discuss.”
• Bernstein: “Boobs?”

Like I said in the blog last week and like we all said on The Stretch yesterday...nobody here roots for anyone to get fired. I don't think he deserved to get fired for any instance in particular, but I can see why The Score looked at the totally of the situation and thought Bernstein was no long worth the trouble. 

The lesson is...give people grace, especially if you're not familiar with their content. Cursory glances and 2nd hand information is not a good foundation for hate.
