Please Pray For Phillies Pitcher Matt Strahm, Who Had To Miss A Game After Hurting His Finger Packing Away Kids Toys

Professional athletes put their bodies on the line every single day. These men are the definition of warriors. While you're sitting in your little desk chair in your little cubicle all safe and sound, these dudes are pushing their bodies to the absolute limit for a living. Pain, injuries, suffering. Those are all just standard parts of the job that these guys have to deal with. But every so often, a professional athlete will suffer an injury that not even the strongest warrior can overcome. Which is what happened to Phillies pitcher Matt Strahm earlier this week.

Matt Strahm suffered a gruesome left middle fingernail irritation. The type of injury that would be completely debilitating to any ordinary man. But Matt Strahm isn't any ordinary man. He's a professional baseball pitcher. These dudes are tough as nails, and they're willing to fight through almost anything. Maybe they won't fight through a fingernail irritation right away. But the fact that Matt Strahm is still attempting to be ready for Opening Day? WARRIOR.

Let's take a look at how Matt Strahm almost lost his fingernail completely.

Soldiers have gone to war and haven't even seen anything as gruesome as a fingernail getting jammed on some cardboard while packing up your daughter's toys. That would put most folks into hospice care. But not Matt Strahm. Because Matt Strahm is a professional baseball player. Sure, he had to miss a game after that horrific incident. But the fact that he's even still considering pitching this season is a testament to his strength, character, and will.

They don't make 'em any tougher than baseball players. I'll tell ya that much right now. Guy almost had to have his entire arm amputated and now he's wearing that bandage like a badge of honor.

Baseball tough.
