The Mavs Continue To Gaslight Their Own Fanbase After The Owner Declares The Luka Trade Will "Put Fear Into A Lot Of Teams"

Before we dive into Example #134598734958732490587 of why the Luka Doncic trade has been a complete disaster, I once again have to make it clear that I do not enjoy twisting the knife to any Mavs fan reading this blog. This is not meant to troll or cause you any additional torture as you deal with this new reality. In fact, it's the opposite. I feel terrible for that fanbase who never asked for any of this shit, and as each day goes by there seems to be some new stunt pulled by the organization that somehow is worst than then last.
I think you could make the case that no fanbase has had to deal with more shit in a one month span than Mavs fans. We're operating in uncharted waters here in terms of organizational incompetence and extreme gaslighting to the very people who they rely on to support the team. It's insane.
Our latest example? Mavs owner Patrick Dumont saying shit like this
He knows Kyrie tore his ACL right? He's cooked for this year, and the majority of next season. Unless this guy still plans on offering Kyrie a max extension this summer, he enters next year an UFA. Are we sure he even wants to stay in DAL after all this? When you're talking about the future of the team, that feels somewhat significant. It's also insane to think Kyrie is going to step right onto the court and be his same old self. It takes guys a while to get back into their previous form after an ACL tear, just look at his own teammate in Klay Thompson!
I'd love to know how a Mavs fan felt hearing this breakdown. Mentioning the trade deadline last year and how you took off and then made the Finals….well who do we think was a big part of that turnaround? Trading for PJ Washington and Gafford helped for sure, but also this dude LUKA DONCIC was pretty damn important. To use that turnaround as your justification for this trade seems a little backwards. You could have had all those same pieces plus Luka. When the Mavs were healthy this season, they were as good as any other contender!
It's also some pretty serious gaslighting to think that the best teams in the NBA are going to look at the Luka-less Mavs with an older/injured Kyrie and be afraid. I'm not sure that's putting the fear into anyone, even if their rim protection improves. It's probably more like this
Speaking of the future, you're also ignoring that this entire future depends on severely injury prone players staying healthy, which they can't even do right now. How old does he think Klay/Kyrie/AD are? Just think about the thought process here.
Mavs fans are to believe their future is brighter with older/injured players, one of which isn't even signed long term, instead of a 26 year old who doesn't have a major injury on his resume? Klay has 2 more years after this season, so it's entirely possible this "future" the Mavs are talking about doesn't include either Kyrie or Klay, so again I'm wondering how that's supposed to put the fear of God into their opponents?
This is what makes me feel so bad for Mavs fans. They are being gaslit to levels I didn't even know were possible, all while the team ALSO asks them for more money by raising ticket prices for next season. This is some Dr. Evil type shit or something.
If they were so obsessed with a player who has a bright future and puts fear into teams, don't you think this guy would have made sense to keep?
At this point, the Mavs just need to shut the hell up. Stop doing these events, stop leaking shit to the media, stop gaslighting your own fanbase. None of it is doing what you think it's doing. It's only making things much, much worse.
