Goddamnit I love Cam Spencer. I know he's making more money and all that, but he really was the perfect college basketball guy. Went from Loyola to Rutgers to UConn all while growing more and more as a shit talker. He was the ideal lunatic to play for Dan Hurley, in fact I don't think UConn will ever find a more perfect match than Hurley and Spencer. None of this is new. The man would talk shit to his teammates in practice and constantly find himself in the middle of scuffles, kerfuffles even. Why?

The man knows his role. Knock down shots, play some defense and talk a gaggle of shit to the opposing team's best player. You think he cares it's Kevin Durant? Absolutely not. There's no reason for Cam Spencer to care who he's talking to. It's part of what makes Cam Spencer the elite player he is. He would get into it with his teammates, he hit a 3 and yapped at Shaka Smart, opposing student sections, none of it matters to Cam Spencer. He's going to get in your face and piss you off. 

It is kinda perfect he ended up on the Grizzlies in the NBA. I still think of them as the Grit n Grind team with Z-Bo, Tony Allen, Conley and that group. That's who he was made to play for. Ja Morant acknowledging Cam is a psycho might be the biggest selling point to give him a contract extension right this second. He will live and die to win a basketball game for you.
