Leader: Anyone Who Thinks The SEC Is Overrated Better Be Prepared For Commissioner Greg Sankey To Bury Them With Stats And Emojis

I almost, ALMOST, want to hand it to Danny Kanell for being this committed to his SEC bit. The man will never waste an opportunity to say the league is overrated in any sport, any moment, any year. What he's referencing here is a blog by KenPom who basically says it'll be near impossible for the conference to live up to the hype come NCAA Tournament time. You can read it here

It makes sense, I get what he's trying to say. But overrated is 100% the wrong term here. Fail? Sure. Underperform? That's the right way to say it. He also forgets to bring up the fact that an SEC team will be eliminated by another SEC team, does that lead to the conference not living up to the hype? It's a numbers game in the NCAA Tournament with a small sample size.

You won't find me chanting SEC as a conference. I don't want Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, you name it, besides Kentucky to win games. I hate those schools with a passion. I don't want them to succeed in the name of the conference. That's dumb. I only want Kentucky to win. If Kentucky can't win, hopefully like Central Connecticut State does or someone like that.

Someone who will chant SEC is commissioner Greg Sankey, who used stats and emojis to bury Danny Kanell

Even cracked the .500 in conference play joke! That's a man who *ahem* gets it. Of course he wants the SEC to succeed, it's more money in the pocket of the conference. And sure, he may have some dumb court storming rules and at one point talked about changing the NCAA Tournament so I've fought against him. But, this? This is just a logical way to look at it. The conference dominated in nonconference play, there might be some regression in March, but it has nothing to do with being overrated.
