"Anthony Davis Was Complaining About Where He Was Being Played And He Wasn't Happy" - Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss Wasted No Time Throwing Anthony Davis Under The Bus

As a Day 1 (and forever) Lakers Hater, the Luka Trade and everything that's happened since has certainly been annoying. The issue is the Mavs and their front office has been such a disaster at every turn, you really couldn't focus your hate on anyone other than those morons. At the time the trade was announced, I had to suck it up and commend Rob Pelinka for one of the biggest masterclasses in gaslighting and manipulation the NBA has ever seen when it comes to big time trades. Game respects game, and he pulled everything off to perfection.

One would think that given the Lakers benefitted from one of the worst trades in modern NBA history and things have immediately turned around their season, that everyone associated with the organization would take the high road, not troll, and just be thankful that somehow (wink, wink) they were able to fall ass backwards into another generational superstar to carry the team and their brand for the next 10+ years.

Is that what the Lakers are doing? Of course not

“We have lost the last three years in a row to the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs, and we really didn't have anything that was going to look different going into the playoffs again. Anthony Davis was complaining about where he was being played and he wasn't happy. So I think this was a positive for both teams. They got what they were looking for; we got what we were looking for.”

Ahh, I know that move. That's a move directly out of the Dallas Mavericks playbook. For starters, it's a tough look for the owner of the team to not know the Lakers have not lost to the Nuggets the last 3 years. 3 years ago, the Lakers did not make the playoffs and were 33-49. Oh well, people misspeak. Funny, but whatever.

But everything else? Yikes. Trying to make it seem like AD was this locker room cancer who was upset and complaining about his role/the roster? All he did was ask the team to add some additional center depth! You know, the same thing LeBron wanted.

Not only that, but something the Lakers immediately tried to do at the trade deadline! I think we all understood why the Mavs were going this route with Luka by trying to bury him once he was off the team. They had to try and justify their moronic decision.

That is NOT the situation the Lakers had with AD. Suggesting that the Lakers actually did AD a favor by trading him to Dallas is so insane it's definitely enough to get my hater blood flowing again. This is a dude that helped you win a title, there's no need to try and trash him now that he's gone. Why do franchises continue to do shit like this? Just be normal! How hard is it to say

"We loved AD, he loved being a Laker and was integral in bringing us a title, but this was an opportunity to add a special player and you have to give something to get something"

That's it. That's all you have to do. Seems like a no brainer to me. Again, all AD did was suggest that maybe some additional frontcourt help might be beneficial for a playoff run. Something that everyone who watched the Lakers would have told you, and frankly might still be true to this day.

There was also this line

"So I think this was a positive for both teams"

which I have to admit is some elite gaslighting, but it also points to what makes them so insufferable. As if the Lakers were doing both teams a favor by accepting one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history. In no way was this trade a positive for the Mavs, and you could have said that even without the benefit of hindsight. Everyone knew the second we saw the news!

I get being happy with your new shiny toy in Luka and being caught up with how good the team looks at the moment, but trying to throw AD under the bus while also lying at the same time is pretty lame.
