LeBron Makes Even More NBA History By Becoming The Founding Father Of The 50,000 Points Club

Back when LeBron passed Kareem to take over as the official all time leading scorer in NBA history, it was more of a "when" situation as opposed to an "if". Once it was clear that LeBron was never coming close to showing any signs of regression or that he wasn't still going to be able to produce on a consistent high level, it was only a matter of time before he finally took over. The same is true when it came time for LeBron to break the 40,000 point barrier, something that no other player in NBA history has ever done. Considering Kareem was only at 38,387, there was no doubt that LeBron was going to smash through into the 40,000s.

Well, how about 50,000???

Heading into tonight, LeBron sat at 41,837 regular season points / 8,162 playoff points, and for those of you not good at math, that's 49,999. That meant that the second LeBron scored a single point in their game against the Pelicans, that we'd once again witness history.

Even if you think this is just another formality achievement, we're at the point now where you simply have to take a step back and understand/appreciate what we're seeing right now from a 40 year old player. You think I want to write this blog? You think I want to say anything even remotely positive about LeBron? But what the hell am I supposed to do, my hands are tied. I am nothing if not fair, and what we're seeing makes no goddamn sense. The dude is 40, looks better than ever, and just won Player Of The Month

Does this look like a guy who is showing any signs of age/regression to you??

Meanwhile, the Lakers are one of the hottest teams in the NBA and have vaulted all the way up to the 2 seed. Oh, and Luka is only getting more and more in game shape after missing a month. The same way Jimmy Butler has given Steph Curry new life (won 9 of 10 btw), the same thing is true with Luka and LeBron. This fuckery is still going strong and showing no signs of slowing down.

I guess the next question becomes, how high can LeBron climb? After tonight, the Lakers will have 22 games left. Lets say LeBron plays in 15. Given his average, that should have him scoring another 380ish points the rest of the regular season, to bring his total to 42, 671 (50,833). The next part is harder to predict, because it depends on how far you think the Lakers might go this postseason. Let's be conservative and say 10 games, there's another near 300 points, which gets you over the 51,000 mark. So essentially, at this stage of LeBron's career it's fair to suggest he's putting up around 1,700 total points a season (including playoffs).

If he plays say, another 2-3 seasons after this, you're looking at maaaaaaaaaybe 54,000. Deeper postseason runs would help, as would continuing to play around 70 games like he did last year and could easily do this season. The point is, think of what we're talking about here. A dude in his early 40s putting up 1,700 total points a year? How is that even real. When you understand the context around the sheer amount of points we're talking about here it's even more ridiculous

I will say it is good to know that even after all these years and all these points, at the end of the day when there's a big LeBron achievement out there, you'll never have to worry about Skip Bayless missing a chance to troll\

Is it sad? Definitely. But at this point you've been trying this gimmick for 20+ years, you may as well see it through and hate until the end.
